Taozhu Scenic Area

Taozhu Scenic Area is a provincial-level scenic spot. It is located in Linhai City, Taizhou. It is composed of many landscapes such as the ancient anti-Japanese city of Taozhu, the world wonder of coral rocks, Wukeng in Xiaoyandang, and a seaside bathing beach. It covers an area of about 150 square kilometers and has more than 200 scenic spots. Wen Tianxiang of the Song Dynasty called it ‘the fairyland on the sea’, and Feng Gengxue of the Qing Dynasty praised it as ‘the scenery is directly at the top of the southeast’. The scenic area integrates peaks, caves, stones, waterfalls, and beaches, and is known as the ‘five unique’ scenery.
Taozhu Anti-Japanese Ancient City: It was built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. The city is two feet and one chi high, and it is two li and seventy steps around. It is one of the 41 guards along the southeast coast of Zhejiang in the Ming Dynasty that is relatively well-preserved for anti-Japanese purposes. Qi Jiguang, a famous anti-Japanese general, repeatedly defeated the Japanese pirates here and achieved brilliant results. Inside and outside the ancient city, there are many historical sites and beautiful scenery. On the Housuo Mountain, there are inscriptions of ‘Looking far’ and ‘Zhenhai’, as well as relics such as anti-Japanese pavilions and beacon towers. Inside the city, there is an anti-Japanese exhibition hall and a street in the ancient city.
About two li to the south of the city is Shizhu Peak and the Thirteen Islets of Tao River. Further south is the Wukeng Scenic Area, which is connected to Furong Mountain and Baiyan Mountain. It integrates the ancient city of the Ming Dynasty, a volcano dating back hundreds of millions of years, and rural scenery.
The coral rock group in Dakantou: In Dakantou, more than ten kilometers away from Taozhu, there is a rare coral rock landscape in China. The total area of coral rocks is about 5 square kilometers and it is a representative work of typical volcanic lava landform.
Wukeng: Located in Lianpan Township near Taozhu, it is a platform, peak cluster, and isolated peak formed by volcanic lava hundreds of millions of years ago. It is just like a jade pavilion in the sky and a fairyland on earth. The mountains are not high but the peaks are strange. The roads are not steep but the cliffs are steep. It shows extraordinary beauty in smallness and is majestic in gentleness. There are sheer cliffs all around and secluded valleys. Dozens of peaks and rocks are both tall and strange. Various forms such as tigers, turtles, Zhanqi Peak, and Immortal Carrying are extremely vivid. The Yixian Waterfall and Pearl Waterfall on Huoyanshan are even more beautiful.
Shizhu Lingfeng: Located 2 kilometers away from Taozhu Town, Shizhu Peak is 141.81 meters high. It is flat on top and cut off at the bottom. It is jade-like and jagged, with a majestic momentum. There is a small stone pillar behind it, connected by a low hill, just like a camel lying quietly. Under the peak are the Thirteen Islets of Tao River, winding and curving. The water surrounds the islets, shaped like ‘nine dragons playing with a pearl’. The rural scenery is picturesque. Nearby, there are scenic spots such as General Rock, Yuhu Rock, two frogs climbing mountains, Dragon Cutting Waist, and caves such as Mingxia Cave and Louyue Cave. To the west, it is connected to the beautiful Furong Mountain and the majestic Baiyan Mountain. There are strange peaks and rocks, numerous caves and dense forests, presenting a unique world.
The opening hours are from 08:00 to 18:30 all year round. The scenic area has multiple scenic spots under its jurisdiction. The opening hours of each scenic spot are different. Specific opening hours are subject to the on-site announcements of each scenic spot on the day.
