Tashanyan Village is located at the outlet of Zhangxi River beside Tashan in Yinjiang Town, Yin County. It was built in 833 (the seventh year of Taihe in the Tang Dynasty). It is 134.4 meters long and 4.8 meters wide. It is all built with stones 2 to 3 meters long and 0.2 to 0.35 meters wide. There are 36 stone steps on each side. The purpose of building Tashanyan is to resist tides, separate seawater from rivers, and block salt and fresh water. The river water is diverted into two channels through this weir: one enters Yuehu Lake, and the other enters Yinjiang River and Fenghua River, irrigating thousands of mu of fertile land and turning water disasters into water conservancy. Tashanyan has been more than a thousand years so far. After being impacted by floods, it is still basically intact and continues to play the roles of blocking salt, storing fresh water, diverting water, and releasing floods. Open all year round and all day.
