Tea Mountain and Bamboo Sea is located in the north of Yongchuan City, Chongqing. The scenic area is characterized by its interwoven tea gardens and natural bamboo forests, hence the name Tea Mountain and Bamboo Sea. The air here is fresh and pure, making it a natural oxygen bar.
The main attractions include three major tea gardens such as Gui Mountain Tea Garden and Qinglong Tea Garden, and six major bamboo forests including Jinpen Bamboo Sea and Bamboo Sea Maze, with vast tea gardens and lush bamboo forests. Additionally, there are scenic spots like Tianbazizi Ancient Tomb, Tianzidi, and Budo Ridge, among which the main peak Budo Ridge has an elevation of over a thousand meters, making it one of the higher peaks in Western Chongqing.
The scenic area is covered with green bamboos that reach for the sky, often shrouded in mist, creating an ambiance described as ‘green bamboos entering secluded paths, and green vines brushing against travelers’ clothes’. It was chosen as a filming location for the movie ‘House of Flying Daggers’.
Besides natural landscapes, there are historical relics such as Shuangfu Courtyard, Xianren Cave, and Tianbao Stockade, as well as distinctive farmhouse restaurants where one can taste various fresh bamboo and tea products. In the hot summer, the mountains are cool and comfortable, making it an excellent summer retreat.
After the tour, you can take back some local specialties such as tea, bamboo shoots, bamboo mats, and dried bamboo shoots, which are good options for personal use or as gifts.
