Huzhou Fucheng Huang Temple is located between Renmin Road and Bei Street in Huzhou City, commonly known as the ‘Temple within the Temple’, and is one of the three unique attractions of the city.
Fu Temple, in the old days, was similar to Nanjing Confucius Temple, Hangzhou City God Temple, and Suzhou Xuanmiao Temple, serving not only as a place for religious and sacrificial activities but also as an entertainment venue for people. As a site for sacrificial activities, it once hosted the imperial worship of Huzhou City God. Fu Temple’s religious history has been overseen by Taoism (Fu Temple is a Taoist temple managed by the orthodox sect), with performances by itinerant artists (drama, acrobatics, magic, etc.) throughout the year. Fu Temple is also the birthplace of Huzhou storytelling and Hutan. Before the Anti-Japanese War, there was a domestic goods market, along with various snacks, department stores, fortune-telling, and divination stalls, offering a dazzling array of unique experiences. The temple is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.Fu Temple
