The Ten Thousand Buddhas Cave is located at the northern foot of Thousand Buddha Mountain. It is a major scenic spot of Thousand Buddha Mountain and was constructed in 1992. It combines the essence of the four major grottoes in China, namely Dunhuang, Longmen, Maijishan, and Yungang. Through the selection, concentration, and reconstruction by artists, nearly 30,000 Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, disciples, and heavenly kings are created by imitation.
The large reclining Buddha is 28 meters long, and the large Buddha standing in front of the cave is 15 meters high. The murals inside the cave cover an area of more than 10,000 square meters. Each one complements each other with different styles such as exquisite and magnificent, simple and majestic, implicit and beautiful, and grand and rough, reproducing the artistic charm of Chinese grotto statues and opening the door to history for future generations to explore past civilizations. The Ten Thousand Buddhas Cave is composed of four parts: Highlights of Mogao Grottoes, Essence of Longmen Grottoes, Wonders of Maijishan Grottoes, and Highlights of Yungang Grottoes. The cave is 500 meters long and records the changes in the historical development of Chinese Buddhism and contains profound cultural connotations. Opening hours: Open from 08:30 to 17:30 all year round.
