The 5,000-Year-Old Cultural Expo Garden, in its first phase titled “A Dream of a Thousand Years,” is a harmonious blend of classical Huizhou architecture and the renowned Suzhou gardens. This cultural haven boasts a plethora of attractions, including the 5,000-Year-Old Cultural Corridor, the Laozi as the Best in the World, the Huangmei Opera Art Street, the Coiling Dragon, the Cultural Ancient Planks, the Four Great Classical Novels Cultural Park, the Chinese Filial Piety Park, and the Huaxia Love Culture Park.
Upon entering the garden, visitors embark on a journey through themed attractions that span various eras of Chinese history. The narrative begins with Pangu’s creation and continues through the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, the dynasties of Xia, Shang, and Western Zhou, the Spring and Autumn Warring States periods, and extends to the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. These attractions are brought to life through statues, wall inscriptions, and physical displays, which together celebrate the splendor of 5,000 years of Chinese culture.
You can marvel at the massive stone carving of Laozi, known as Laozi as the Best in the World, as well as genuine sunken wood, stalactites, replicas of the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, and the mythical Flower and Fruit Mountain. The garden also houses several exhibition halls, such as the Brand Art Gallery, the 5,000-Year-Old Root Carving Cultural Park, and the Centennial Folk Art Museum.
A highlight of the visit is the 5,000-Year-Old Root Carving Cultural Park, which showcases lifelike wood carvings crafted from precious materials like camphor wood, redwood, and golden nanmu. Among the rare pieces is a camphor wood carving depicting ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival,’ which measures over 5 meters in length and was showcased at the Shanghai World Expo.Phase II of the 5,000-Year-Old Cultural Expo Garden, ‘Ten Miles of Gallery,’ integrates the millennia-old history of the Huaxia into massive three-dimensional pictures. It consists of attractions such as the ‘Three Hundred and Sixty Trades’ Cultural Park, the ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’ Cultural Park, the ‘Misty Rain Jiangnan’ Cultural Park, and the ‘Creative Stone World’ Cultural Park.
In the evening, the commercial area of the first phase is free to enter. Although there are no exhibition halls to visit, one can take a stroll and enjoy the night view.
The garden is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:30. During the National Day, it is open from 08:00 to 22:00. The night tour of the ‘A Dream of a Thousand Years’ scenic area is open from 18:30 to 22:00.
