The Badaling Ancient Great Wall is located 10 kilometers southwest of the Badaling Great Wall scenic area. It is the west gate of the Badaling Great Wall’s defense. Here, there are lofty mountains and ridges, deep ravines and dangerous gorges. The passes of the Great Wall are connected, and the watchtowers face each other. Due to its primitive preservation, although it is incomplete, the majestic peaks still exist.
Among the broken walls and ruins, one can better see the historical vicissitudes and sense of heaviness of the Great Wall. The Badaling Ruined Great Wall is a witness to history. According to expert research, two sites with archaeological value have been discovered in the Badaling Ruined Great Wall. One is the stone quarry for building the Great Wall back then. The split huge rocks are clearly visible, and the chisel marks on the unfinished stones are vividly visible. The other is the group of brick kilns for burning bricks back then. From here, you can learn about some of the sources of raw materials for building the Great Wall at that time.
