Located in the northeastern corner of Cicheng Town, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City, the Cicheng School Official Hall was the venue for the Qing Dynasty’s imperial examinations, specifically for the ‘Child Examination’. Local residents also refer to it as the ‘Examination Hall’.
The ‘Child Examination’ was held annually, and it consisted of three stages: county, prefecture, and academy. Those who passed were called ‘students’, commonly known as ‘scholars’, marking the place as the grassroots level of talent selection in the feudal imperial examination system.
