The former residence of Mr. Ke Ling, a renowned Chinese writer, screenwriter, and critic, is located at No. 147 West Fuxing Road, featuring a three-story Spanish-style building facing the street.
According to records, Mr. Ke Ling and his wife, Chen Guorong, lived in Room 203 of this building for nearly half a century, where Ke Ling conceived and created a vast number of literary works. The former residence houses over 130 boxes of books, as well as thousands of letters exchanged between Ke Ling and literary giants such as Qian Zhongshu, Yang Jiang, and Xia Yan. It also contains the manuscript of the essay collection ‘Fragrant Snow Sea’ and the manuscript of the first chapter of the first part of the novel ‘Shanghai: A Hundred Years’ titled ‘Bund of Ten Miles’. Visitors will enter through the序厅 on the first floor, view the exhibition, and then ascend to the second floor where Mr. Ke Ling’s living space is located, via an indoor spiral staircase. The tour continues through the kitchen, living room, study, and bedroom, ending at the exit via a public corridor. Opening times are Tuesday, Thursday to Saturday from 10:00 to 16:30; closed all day on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday.
