This is the place where Mr. Tan Kah Kee once lived. It was completed in 1918.
The former residence is a two-story small building. It was bombed and destroyed by Japanese planes in 1938 and later rebuilt. The residence was renovated only after the completion of the reconstruction.

The current former residence was renovated in 1980 according to the original layout of the small building. It is displayed according to the living situation of Mr. Tan in his later years and treasures relics such as manuscripts, clothes and daily necessities.

The reception room, dining room, studio, bedroom, etc. on the second floor are all furnished as they were during Mr. Tan’s lifetime.

A three-story building on the west side of the former residence is the ‘Exhibition Hall of the Life and Deeds of Mr. Tan Kah Kee’. It is displayed in three parts: ‘Doing Business in Southeast Asia with Deep Affection for the Motherland’, ‘Devoting All Assets to Promote Education with Perseverance’, and ‘Loving the Motherland Sincerely and Dedicating Oneself Wholeheartedly’. It shows Mr. Tan Kah Kee’s wisdom and talent in running industries, as well as his noble virtues of being industrious, thrifty and devoting all his assets to promote education.

It is open from 08:00 to 17:30 throughout the year.
