The ‘Shiguang Shopping Street’ is located on the main visiting passage of Yuanmingyuan – Ginkgo Avenue. To the east, it is adjacent to the famous scenic area in the garden – the Western Building Ruins area. To the west, it is adjacent to the main water system in the garden – Fuhai. Covering an area of about 2,200 square meters, it is a light and shadow immersive cultural tourism project carefully created by Liangye based on the real ‘Yuanmingyuan Shopping Street’ in history.
With culture as the soul and light and shadow technology as the means, it reproduces the prosperous scene of the market a hundred years ago in the ‘Garden of Gardens’. After more than 720 days and nights, the Shiguang Shopping Street opened for business in autumn 2021. According to historical materials, nearly 30 characteristic stores have been opened in the street, covering old Beijing characteristic catering, snacks and specialties, coffee and fruit drinks, cultural and creative department stores, light and shadow experience spaces, and performances. Among them, the immersive experience space of ‘Dongtian Riyue’ created especially relying on Liangye’s light and shadow technology reproduces the scene of Yuanmingyuan in its prosperous period. The light and shadow interactive space of ‘Yuyuan Yingge’ not only reproduces the scene of Yuanmingyuan Shopping Street but also interacts with tourists, making the experience more interesting. The once ‘Versailles of the East’ has turned into the ‘Western Illusion Shiguang Coffee’ hall. The magnificent Western court is dreamy and illusory in the four-season changes of light and shadow in Yuanmingyuan. Opening hours: Open from 10:00 to 18:00 all year round.
