The Qichun Garden Gate, located in the eastern part of Qichun Garden, was originally constructed in 1809 (the 14th year of the Jiaqing period). It is one of the few complete structures that survived the looting and destruction of the Yuanmingyuan. In 1987, the inner and outer gates, walls, and corner gates of Qichun Garden were restored at their original site, transforming it into the main entrance of the ruins park.

After enduring long-term exposure to wind and sun, the architectural components of Qichun Garden Gate have suffered varying degrees of damage, particularly the paint on the gate pillars which has peeled off, revealing the underlying materials. In 2003, the Yuanmingyuan Management Committee initiated a restoration project for the Qichun Garden Gate area. The refurbished Qichun Garden Gate now features a smooth plaza surface and freshly painted main gate.
