‘Traveling in the Mountain City’ – Shadow Puppetry, also known as ‘Shadow Play’ or ‘Lantern Shadow Play’, is a form of folk drama that uses silhouettes made from animal hide or cardboard to perform stories. During performances, artists stand behind a white screen, manipulating the puppets while narrating the story in a popular local tune, accompanied by percussion and string instruments, giving it a strong local flavor.

‘Chinese Martial Arts’ – Chinese martial arts, created and developed by the Chinese nation, serve to strengthen the body, protect oneself, defend against enemies, and achieve victory. It is one of the four great national essences of China, enjoyed by people of all ethnic groups.
‘Silk Dance’ – The basic techniques of manipulating water sleeves can be summarized into ten: brushing, placing, wrapping, throwing, supporting, grabbing, shaking, pulling, turning, and lifting. ‘Brothers Performing’ – The ‘Quilt Play’ is a Sichuan intangible cultural heritage. Hundreds of years ago, a peculiar form of puppetry appeared in Sichuan, called the ‘Quilt Play’, a solo puppet show also known as the ‘Back Pole Play’, named after the curtain that covers the performer like a quilt. This is a puppet show with a plot performed by one person. The performer hides behind the scenes, only allowing the puppets to meet the audience, with the performer’s hands continuously changing the puppet roles.
‘Pi Jin Rolling the Lamp’ – A Sichuan opera segment ‘Rolling the Lamp’ reveals Pi Jin’s idleness and his punishment by his wife, rolling and balancing a lamp on the ground. The play integrates opera and procedural skills with acrobatic lamp-balancing techniques, performing various spectacular stunts on a stool.
‘Erhu Solo’ – The erhu is a renowned Chinese bowed string instrument, with origins dating back to the 7th to 10th centuries during the Tang Dynasty in China, primarily popular among ethnic minorities in northwest China. Over a thousand years of development, the erhu has always been an accompanying instrument in opera.

‘Face Changing in Sichuan Opera’ – It is said that ‘face changing’ originated from ancient humans who, in the face of fierce beasts, painted their faces in different ways to survive and scare away invading beasts.

Amidst the scenic beauty of Bashan Shu water and the richness of the Land of Abundance, Sichuan Opera’s face-changing artists use a variety of colorful facial makeup to reflect the different personality traits of characters.
