Situated in Group 8, Xinglong Town Residents’ Committee, Fengjie County, the Three Gorges Tiankeng Rural Park spans an area of 260 acres. Xinglong Town, with an elevation of 1500 meters and a forest coverage rate of 80%, boasts an average summer temperature below 25 degrees Celsius, making it one of the top three summer retreats in Chongqing. Moreover, Xinglong Town is renowned worldwide for the ‘Fengjie Tiankeng Group’, which includes six collapse-type tiankengs: Luokuoyan Tiankeng (diameter 100-135 meters, depth 101 meters) and Chongtianyan Tiankeng (diameter 160-300 meters, depth 168 meters), Xiaozhai Tiankeng, Monkey Stone Tiankeng, Wujia Village Tiankeng, Daqing Pit Tiankeng, and Xiaokeng Tiankeng.
The tiankeng group originated in the early Middle Pleistocene, influenced by regional crustal intermittent uplift, and has evolved through stages of underground river, tiankeng formation, and modification and degradation, resulting in numerous tiankengs of varying scales and ages. In 2005, after extensive exploration by the International Karst Tiankeng Expedition Team in Xinglong Town, Fengjie, Chongqing, the term ‘tiankeng’ gained unanimous recognition in the international karst academic community and began to be used internationally in its Chinese Pinyin form ‘tiankeng’. In 2021, Chongqing Lejian Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd., leveraging the momentum of rural revitalization and the trend of all-domain tourism, integrated unique natural resources and rich cultural folk customs to create the Three Gorges Tiankeng Rural Park with meticulous craftsmanship. At the Three Gorges Tiankeng Rural Park, visitors can immerse themselves in the beautiful and unique natural scenery, experience thrilling adventures in tiankeng activities such as cliff climbing, tiankeng pirate ship, tiankeng bicycle, tiankeng cliff swing, tiankeng suspension bridge, and ‘flying immortal’, enjoy leisure time with family-friendly activities like the internet-famous bridge, inflatable castle, pirate ship, beach playground, pet paradise, and internet-famous check-in spots, and stay in forest health retreats, experience luxury camping, taste authentic rural cuisine. As night falls, the park lights up, and the stage comes alive with light songs and dances, ushering in a romantic night. The park is open all year round from 09:00 to 18:00. Preferential policies include: Children: Free for those aged 6 years (inclusive) or under or with a height of 1.2 meters (inclusive) or under; half price for those with a height between 1.2 meters (inclusive) and 1.5 meters (exclusive). Elderly: Half price for those aged 60 years (inclusive) to 64 years (inclusive) with a valid ID card. Students: Half price for full-time undergraduate and below students with a valid student ID card.
