Ti Jin Guan, situated at a high point within the Xi Ling Seal Society, covers an area of approximately 70 square meters and features a brick-wood structure. Nestled against the mountain with a north-to-south orientation, the building exudes an air of simplicity and elegance.
The name “Ti Jin Guan” originally belonged to a Shanghai-based calligraphy and painting organization led by Wu Changshuo, known as Ti Jin Guan Book House. Upon the establishment of the Xi Ling Seal Society on Gushan in 1913, the society’s president, Wu Changshuo, constructed a building within the society and transferred this refined name to the building. Completed in 1914, the building was also named Yin Xian Lou, inspired by the poetry of Su Dongpo. Wu Changshuo, a frequent visitor to the West Lake, would ascend Gushan by steps and climb stones to Ti Jin Guan, stating, “Every time I reside here, the beauty of the lakes and mountains must gather under my wrist and align in my heart.”
Currently, this building serves as an exhibition hall, open all year round with full-day access. However, the interior is not open to the public, and only the exterior can be visited.
