Tianchi Grand Canyon is approximately 280 kilometers away from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Province. It is a significant gathering place for the Hakka people in Guangxi. The scenic area is located in Santan Town within the county. Historically, this place was known as Nanchang County during the Southern Dynasties. It is not only environmentally beautiful and picturesque but also known for its hospitable, hardworking, and intelligent locals. It is famous for its longan fruit production and earns the reputation of the ‘Hometown of Longan’.
The Tianchi Grand Canyon scenic area is part of the remaining ridges of the Liuwan Mountain Range, composed of Hercynian granite intrusive bodies. The mountain massif is vast with steep slopes reaching 30-50 degrees. Rivers develop along the northwest-southeast fault, creating numerous valleys that intersect with the mountain range. The intense water erosion has led to the development of many gullies and significant river drops, forming beautiful and spectacular multi-level waterfall landscapes.
The main species in the scenic area include Hainan wind-dispersed trees, anti-venom trees, black and white olives, fir, masson pine, camellia, and star anise trees, with a forest coverage rate of about ninety percent. The Tianchi Grand Canyon is 3.8 kilometers long, mainly consisting of Toukengkou, Tangdu, San Keng, and Dashuikeng. The air negative oxygen ion content reaches or exceeds 1000/cm³, with an average content of 60,000/cm³, and up to 180,000/cm³. Here, ancient trees and old vines cover the sky, rocks take on various shapes, pools are scattered like stars, waterfalls display a myriad of scenes, streams meander, and water flows gently, filling the valley with verdant greenery, sometimes gentle and sometimes turbulent. The deep canyons, clear streams, lush vegetation, and the 100-meter-high Tianchi Grand Waterfall complement each other, imbuing the entire canyon with a sense of spirituality.
