Tianmen Mountain, also known as ‘Tianping Mountain’, is located at the border of Tongling County and Qingyang County, southeast of the city center, approximately 20 kilometers away. With its main peak reaching an elevation of 576.6 meters, it stands as one of the taller mountains within Tongling’s territory. Four kilometers to the west, the mountain range naturally separates, forming a grand valley between Tianmen Mountain and Wufeng Mountain. Another mountain range to the south connects Tianmen Mountain with Wufeng Mountain, and at the valley’s mouth, this range arches up to form an arc-shaped peak higher than the valley itself, resembling two gates about to open but not yet opened. This colossal portal is referred to as ‘Tianmen’, hence the name Tianmen Mountain.

On the northern side of Tianmen Mountain’s main peak, there are two springs acclaimed by people as ‘holy springs’, named ‘Tianmen Spring’ and ‘Fantasy Spring’. These springs, imbued with the essence of nature’s vitality, have been pouring forth sweet nectar for centuries, never drying up even in severe droughts. They stretch for several miles and eventually merge into the Yangtze River. Not only do they serve as a sight to behold, but they also nourish the fertile fields at the foot of the mountain and have sustained generations of mountain dwellers. Tianmen Mountain is not only dense with lush bamboo and verdant trees, but it also showcases its charm to visitors. It is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day, with specific business hours subject to daily operations.
