Tianmu Lake Tourist Resort is located 8 kilometers south of Liyang City. It is surrounded by lush green mountains and dotted with islands. The lake water is clear and the scenery is picturesque. You can take a cruise to enjoy the lake views, hike to see the bamboo sea, and soak in hot springs. When the water park is open in spring and summer, you can also enjoy various water-based amusement facilities. Visiting Tianmu Lake is relaxing and suitable for family outings. The main attractions are scattered around the lake, including Tianmu Lake Landscape Garden and Tianmu Lake Water World on the north bank, Nanshan Bamboo Sea and Tianmu Lake Yushu Hot Springs in the southeast, and Tianmu Lake Han Tian Ban Shan Hot Springs on the west bank. Among them, the two main scenic spots for enjoying natural scenery are Tianmu Lake Landscape Garden and Nanshan Bamboo Sea. They are quite far apart, so it is advisable to plan a two-day visit. Tianmu Lake Landscape Garden is the place to view the lake. When visitors say they are going to see ‘Tianmu Lake,’ they are actually referring to the lake views within the landscape garden. It is highly recommended to take a cruise, which is a must-experience activity. The essence of the garden, Longxing Island, can only be accessed by boat. The landscape garden also offers other entertainment options, such as water sports, 4D movies, and high-altitude rappelling. The Nanshan Bamboo Sea scenic area has a ‘Y’ shaped route. The Shouxing Square featuring a golden longevity star statue is the branch point of the ‘Y’.Embarking on a journey through the scenic Tianmu Lake area, you have two distinct paths to choose from. The first leads you up the mountain, offering a breathtaking view of the bamboo sea. The alternative route takes you to a village rich in history, featuring residences from the Ming and Qing dynasties. To reach this ancient village, a ground cable car is required.
For families visiting Tianmu Lake during the summer, the Tianmu Lake Water World is a must-visit destination. It offers thrilling attractions for adults and a children’s playground that caters to younger visitors. Don’t forget to pack your bathing supplies and swimwear for this aquatic adventure.
Accommodation options abound near both the Tianmu Lake Landscape Garden and Nanshan Bamboo Sea. If you’re on a generous budget, consider a room with a lake view by the landscape garden for a truly immersive experience. Alternatively, for those staying by Nanshan Bamboo Sea, the Tianmu Lake Yushu Hot Springs Hotel is an excellent choice. It allows you to enjoy the bamboo sea during the day and relax in the hot springs at night, providing a delightful end to your day.
For those who prefer to drive themselves, the Han Tian Ban Shan Hot Springs on the west bank of Tianmu Lake offer a different experience. They provide hot spring soaking and accommodation, but their location is not en route to the other main attractions, making them more suitable for self-driving tourists.
When it comes to dining, be sure to sample the local specialities. Tianmu clay pot fish head and bamboo shoots are signature dishes, and the Tianmu Lake white tea is a refreshing beverage worth trying. These delicacies can be enjoyed at local restaurants and hotels.
