BY ART MATTERS Tianmu Li Art Museum is a contemporary art museum located in the Tianmu Li Park, scheduled to open in 2021, and was built by Renzo Piano Building Workshop to the standards of world art museums. The museum will continuously provide artists with platforms for exhibitions, exchanges, and publication of works, aspiring to become the third place in people’s lives and labor, and the first classroom for creativity. We hope to serve as a gathering place for contemporary art in Hangzhou, both domestically and internationally, providing momentum and support for perception, exploration, and creation. Through a rich array of exhibitions and public educational activities, we aim to cultivate the public’s independent aesthetic for contemporary art and inspire the senses, thoughts, and spirit.
BY ART MATTERS Tianmu Li Art Museum is headed by Italian curator and writer Francesco Bonami. He has served as the curator for the 2nd SITE Santa Fe Biennale, the 50th Venice Biennale, and the 75th Whitney Biennale, among others. Bonami has also held positions as the editor-in-chief of Flash Art’s US edition, senior curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and artistic director of the Pitti Discovery Foundation. He has curated exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery in London and the Hayward Gallery in London as well.
Opening hours: Open all year round, Tuesday to Sunday 12:00-20:00; closed all day on Mondays.
