Tianqiao is located on the southern side of Beijing’s urban area, adjacent to the west side of the Temple of Heaven. Originally, it referred to a high bridge built during the Yuan Dynasty. After the bridge was dismantled, the name Tianqiao was preserved and now generally refers to an area to the west of the Temple of Heaven. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, this place was the center of street art in Beijing, where many artists performed on the ground, creating a bustling atmosphere. Today, it is home to numerous artistic venues such as the Tianqiao Theater and Deyun Society, each with its unique characteristics. The opening hours are subject to the day’s operational status.
