The Tianqiao Impression Museum officially opened on International Museum Day on May 18, 2018. The museum is located in the underground exhibition space of the citizen square at the intersection of Beiwei Road and Tianqiao South Street, with a total area of nearly 3,000 square meters.

‘Tavern flags and theatrical drums make Tianqiao a bustling market. How many tourists don’t miss home?’ The overall planning and positioning of the museum takes’revealing and inheriting the outstanding culture of Tianqiao area’ as the core. The area is designed into three theme spaces: ‘fixed exhibition, cultural experience, and live exhibition’. Among them, the ‘fixed exhibition area’ takes the history of Tianqiao as the axis and is divided into five major sections: ‘preface hall, bridge of the emperor, bridge of culture, bridge of the common people, and bridge of rejuvenation’.

Through modern exhibition means and high-tech interactive projects, and with the rich historical and cultural background of Tianqiao, it comprehensively shows the historical evolution, landscape features and long historical context of Tianqiao area.

The museum highlights the inherent historical and cultural characteristics of Tianqiao, and focuses on displaying important figures, historical stories and cultural relics in Tianqiao area, conveying positive social energy to the audience.

The ‘cultural experience area’ integrates contents from multiple fields such as history, intangible cultural heritage, art, aesthetics, and folk customs. Through various activity forms such as reading, cultural and creative products, training, design, interactive experience, and people-benefiting cultural exchanges, while improving the cultural supporting facilities of the performing arts area, on the one hand, it sorts out, studies and spreads various manifestations of Tianqiao culture, aiming to truly inherit the traditional culture of Tianqiao.

On the other hand, it actively enters the cultural market, promotes the innovative development of cultural and creative research and development, and realizes the market-oriented cultivation of a series of cultural and creative brands in the region.

The ‘live exhibition area’ takes the live demonstration of traditional culture as the core. Through cultural exchanges with friendly cities in Xicheng District and intangible cultural heritage cities, temple fair markets in Changdian, skill performances of Tianqiao artists, and people-benefiting cultural experience activities, the live exhibition area will be built into a live cultural landmark in Tianqiao area.
