Introduction: Tiantai Mountain is located in the western part of Shijingshan District, Beijing. It is a famous religious tourist attraction. As early as the Tang Dynasty, the famous person Liangqiuzi had approving annotations on it.
It is said that the origin of the name Tiantai Mountain is related to its topography. Because its mountain shape is like a nose and the top is flat like a platform to ascend to heaven, it was originally called ‘Tiantai Mountain’.
On the northwest peak of Tiantai Mountain is Cishan Temple, also known as Tiantai Temple. It has more than 30 halls and more than 100 rooms of different styles. The temple is divided into four parts, including Dabei Altar, Jade Emperor Hall, Tianqi Hall, Reclining Buddha Hall, God of Wealth Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Ancient Buddha Tower, Dragon King Temple, etc., which are magnificent and spectacular. The statues of Guan Yu and Weituo give people a sense of majesty. The gentle Bodhisattvas and Arhats are very kind. Tourists are happy to pray to them for peace.
Tiantai Mountain has unique scenery in all seasons. In spring, you can enjoy peach blossoms. In summer, you can escape the heat. In autumn, the maple leaves are as red as fire. In winter, you can watch the snow as white as silver. Here, people can get close to nature to their heart’s content.
If you look from the foot of the mountain, the magnificent ancient temples are hidden among the lush pines and cypresses, forming a beautiful and charming picture scroll that makes people intoxicated and attached.
Nowadays, after many renovations, Cishan Temple has taken on a new look. The wide asphalt road leads directly to the mountain gate, and the transportation is very convenient. People living in this city of Beijing can go to this holy place for sightseeing at any time.
Opening hours: Open all year round. Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 – 16:00.
