The South China Tropical Botanical Garden is located in Taling, Tianya Town, Sanya City, Hainan Province, adjacent to the famous scenic spot ‘Tianya Haijiao’ to the east and Nanshan Temple to the west. It is a large-scale agricultural and forestry science and technology park integrating agricultural science popularization, ecological tourism, and leisure vacation. The planned total area of the park is 171.68 hectares.
In the ‘Orchid World’, there are thousands of rare orchids from around the world, including Vanda, Dendrobium, Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, Catasetum, Oncidium, Miltoniopsis, National Orchid, and Paphiopedilum, showcasing a variety of shapes and colors in a competitive display of beauty. The ‘Exotic Melon and Fruit Garden’ features an array of uniquely shaped fruits and gourds, including enormous pumpkins weighing hundreds of pounds and a giant treasure gourd made from 6666 small gourds, demonstrating the wonders of agriculture.
The ‘Soilless Cultivation Garden’ showcases plants that would typically be deeply rooted in soil, yet here they extend their roots in a mist of water, with aesthetically pleasing film walls and water pipes adorned with thriving plants and abundant fruits, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the charm of technology.
The ‘Fairy Plant Garden’ is home to hundreds of desert plant species, with the towering ‘Nantian Pillar’ from the land of cacti, Mexico, dominating the landscape alongside giant fairy towers and colorful saguaro columns. The ‘Tropical Fruit Orchard’ and ‘Aquarium’ are captivating attractions that leave visitors spellbound. The ‘Matchmaker Tree’ is a unique spectacle, symbolizing the wish for all lovers to unite, while the ‘Evergreen Pine’ is a symbol of longevity.The ‘Orchid Craft Workshop’ and ‘Nantian Fragrance Tea House’ display the traditional handicrafts and the process of making delicious fragrant tea of the Nantian Ecological Grand View Garden. Visitors can also enjoy a free taste of the precious tea, ‘Nantian Orchid Fragrance Tea’, and the magic of ‘Nantian Mystery Fruit’ in the ‘Tasting Garden’.
The ‘Folk Custom Garden’ features the essence of ethnic culture with enchanting Li and Miao ethnic song and dance performances. The scenic area is filled with exotic flowers and plants, shaded by green forests, and can be considered a modern-day Shangri-La. In addition to sightseeing, visitors can also get up close with various tropical plants and marine life, learn about modern technology and traditional crafts, and experience ethnic customs and culture. The park is open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00.Preferential policies include: Children under 1.2 meters (inclusive) enter for free; those between 1.2 meters (exclusive) and 1.4 meters (inclusive) pay half price. Elderly aged 60 (inclusive) to 69 (inclusive) with valid identification receive half price; those 70 and above (inclusive) enter for free with valid identification. Active-duty military personnel with valid officer’s certificates enter for free. Disabled individuals with valid disability certificates enter for free. Full-time primary, middle, and high school students with valid student identification receive half price.
