The Southern Song Dynasty kiln site of Tiger Cave is located at the southern foot of Jiuhua Mountain in Hangzhou, adjacent to the Wan Song Academy. From 1998 to 2001, during two archaeological excavations, kiln industry relics from the Northern Song to the Yuan Dynasty were discovered, fully revealing the entire picture of the kiln site. The Southern Song layer workshops are meticulously constructed, with dragon kilns, workshops, and 24 porcelain shard accumulation pits among other remains. Among them, the words ‘Gengzi year… master… recorded the repair of the Neisi Kiln’ on an unearthed porcelain ring confirm that this kiln is another site of the Southern Song official kiln – the Neisi Kiln. In 2001, this kiln site was rated as one of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China. It was opened to the public in October 2002. The site is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 16:00.
