Tiger Cave Scenic Area is located on the northern shore of the Xianghu Scenic Area. As recorded in the ‘Xiaoshan Cultural Chronicles’: ‘Behind the Lotus Temple, there are two huge rocks. They meet at the top and are hollow like a pot at the bottom, hence the name Tiger Cave.’ The Tiger Cave Scenic Area is named after Tiger Cave Mountain, which is well-known for its tigers. However, this mountain is also widely recognized for a more famous legend – it is the place where King Goujian of Yue slept on firewood and tasted gall. The area is open all year round from 07:00 to 17:00.
