The Tingxi Ancient Path starts from Zhoujia Village, Hengxi Town in the north and ends at Chengyang Village, Dongqian Lake Town in the south. The mountain where the ancient path is located is about 300 meters high, about 1600 meters long and about 2 meters wide. It is all paved with cobblestones and small stones section by section by manual labor. The whole ridge is high and steep in the southeast and flat and inclined in the northwest, with a graceful curve.
Tingxi Ridge is also called ‘Tengxi Ridge’ and ‘Tengfei Ridge’. The ancients gave place names mostly for a reason. It may be named because there is a gurgling mountain stream on one side of the long ridge and there are many pavilions along the way; or because there used to be ancient vines covering the stream beside the ridge, so the ridge is named Tengxi Ridge by association.
