The Tomb of Islamic Sage is located on the west side of Lanpu, North Jiefang Road. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, Chinese scholars called Islamic doctrines ‘extremely pure and true’, so Islam is also called ‘Islamic religion’, and its cemetery is naturally called the Tomb of Islamic Sage. The Tomb of Islamic Sage is a garden-style cemetery surrounded by walls. There are worship halls, square pavilions, and wing rooms inside. Enter through a building with a plaque reading ‘Admire the Lofty Virtue’. Along a stone path with stone railings on both sides, one can enter the tomb of the sage. The tomb chamber is hollow inside and round outside, shaped like a hanging bell. The tomb of the sage is set inside. Because the tomb chamber is arched, when believers or tourists pay their respects to the sage, recite scriptures and pray or speak here, the sound is particularly loud and echoes. Therefore, this tomb is also known as the ‘echoing tomb’. The existing halls and other buildings in the Guangzhou Tomb of Islamic Sage are all in Ming Dynasty style. Opening hours: From January 1st to December 31st, 08:30 – 16:00.
