The Tropic of Cancer marker tower in Shantou City is one of only four Tropic of Cancer marker towers in the country. It is built on the mountainside of Jilong Mountain, about 5 kilometers north of Shantou University. It is an important base for Shantou City to carry out popular science education for teenagers. The marker tower is about 13.6 meters high and 30 meters wide at the bottom. It is in the shape of a globe with a diameter of 5 meters supported by a ‘North’-shaped bracket. The tilt of the sphere is 23.5 degrees. The specific opening hours are subject to the on-site announcements of the scenic spot.
