Tung Chung, formerly known as Tung Chung Hau, is located in the middle of the north shore of Lantau Island. It is facing the sea on one side and surrounded by mountains on three sides. Tung Chung has a long history and culture, with many historical relics. There is a Tung Chung Fort which was used to block pirate invasions. There are still six ancient cannons from the Qing Dynasty remaining. Chek Lap Kok to the north of Tung Chung is where the new airport is located and can be clearly seen from afar at Tung Chung Fort. Walking along the path on the right side of the fort, one can reach the Wong Tei Temple. The temple is used to worship the Marquis Yang Wong Tei who sacrificed together with the monarch at the end of the Song Dynasty.
