Tuo Ji Island is located in the central part of Changdao County, 21.8 kilometers away from the county town. The island covers an area of 7.11 square kilometers with a coastline of 17.68 kilometers. It reaches a height of 198.9 meters at Shuang Ding Mountain and governs 8 administrative villages with a population of 8,400.

The islanders are cheerful and hospitable, and during the ‘2.22’ maritime rescue, the Tuoji Island heroic rescue team was nominated for the ‘Touching China’ segment on CCTV. During the ‘Eleventh Five-Year Plan’ period, Tuoji Island accelerated its ‘tourism-driven island development’ efforts, constructing a sea water bathing beach, a cultural appreciation exhibition hall, and a fishing ground, further developing the Tuo Ji inkstone and Tuoji bonsai.
