This is a series of stories based on real history, taking place within the scenes of an old mansion of a real century-old family. As the first installment of the Gulangyu series, “Under the Mandala Flower” restores the real history of the establishment of the Gulangyu International Relief Association by national entrepreneurs on the eve of Xiamen’s fall in 1937. They united as one and actively participated in the rescue efforts.
The drama is told from the perspective of Bai Gecheng, the youngest son of the Bai family on Gulangyu (whose alias in the drama is Bai Lin). It depicts the difficult choices of the descendants of patriotic people amidst the rise and fall of the family and the survival of the nation during turbulent times.

The entire story unfolds in the coffee shop of the former Bai family’s old mansion (i.e., Monet Garden). During the performance of “Under the Mandala Flower”, you will be like a character in the drama, either participating up close or observing everything that happens in this scene.
