Upper and Lower Seasonal Lakes

Walking down from the Five-Color Pond, one will soon reach the Upper Seasonal Lake. The Lower Seasonal Lake is located below the Upper Seasonal Lake. Although there is a long distance between the two, each has its own characteristics. The Upper and Lower Seasonal Lakes are relatively unique lakes in Jiuzhaigou. The water volume of these lakes changes with the seasons. In autumn, the lake water rises. At other times, due to seasonal changes, most of the time they are embedded in the mountain col and sleeping soundly on their own, revealing the exquisite years and the harmony between heaven and earth.
The Upper Seasonal Lake is adjacent to the Five-Color Pond. The lake water changes with the seasons and sometimes overflows and sometimes dries up. In autumn rainy season, the lake water rises and the lake color is blue. In summer, when the water is shallow, it is turquoise. After early winter, the lake dries up and the lake bed is covered with grass. The lake then becomes a grazing meadow. On the meadow grows Rochewicz’s plant, a first-class protected plant by the United Nations.
The Lower Seasonal Lake is embedded in a mountain col with lush flowers and grass. The water volume changes with the seasons. In autumn, when there is abundant rainfall, the lake water is full. The water color of the Lower Seasonal Lake is the most blue and transparent. Looking from a distance, it is like fresh blue ink.In winter and spring, the water level gradually drops. Until early summer, the lake water even dries up completely. The lake bed is covered with pasture and becomes a blessed land for grazing cattle and horses. Beside the highway by the lake, there are several tall trees. In autumn, when the leaves turn yellow, looking from a distance, the whole tree is golden.
Leaving the Lower Seasonal Lake and walking down the slope along the mountain-ringing highway, there are colorful forests on both sides. On the left side, there is a small valley. Passing by in autumn, it is a gorgeous and charming sight, as if walking through a painting.
