Shengtian Lake is nestled at the foot of Hua’ing Mountain, within the boundaries of Jindaoxia Town, 48 kilometers from Beibei, and at an elevation of 390 meters, it is the birthplace of the Heishui River. Constructed in the 1970s by nearly ten thousand laborers who, after nearly a decade of arduous effort and at the cost of 21 lives and 70 disabled individuals, built this rare high-altitude artificial lake on the land of Bashu. The lake is named Shengtian, symbolizing the historical testament of human determination to overcome nature.

The lake area spans 1.5 square kilometers, with a surface area of 0.5 square kilometers and a depth of 39 meters, holding a total reservoir capacity of 15.95 million cubic meters.

Surrounded by mountains, Shengtian Lake boasts steep and elegant terrain, a winding lake, and beautiful scenery, characterized by its tranquil environment, green waters, high waterfalls, and peculiar rocks. It is acclaimed as the ‘Fairy Pool on Earth’ of Hua’ing Mountain. The ‘Lion Island’ is lush with vegetation, ‘One Line Sky’ features towering rock walls, and ‘Three Yuan Cave’ is mysterious and deep. The dam of the lake stands majestically, a masterpiece of human engineering.

On clear nights, with bright stars and a bright moon, the lake and islands are hazy, resembling the ethereal landscapes of Penglai. In 1987, it was designated as a municipal scenic area, making it a rare haven for summer retreat and leisure.
