Wang Erlie Memorial Hall is located in Hanlinfu Hutong, inside the west gate of the old city of Liaoyang, and now belongs to Hanlin Committee, Baita District. It is a mansion bestowed and built by Emperor Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty.
In terms of architectural layout, this Hanlin mansion is different from the symmetrically enclosed mansions of the official families in the feudal era. The mansion is not large, with two courtyards, the east and the west, and more than 20 rooms. The west courtyard is the residence, and the east courtyard is the study and garden. The gate faces south. There are horse stones and a screen wall in front of the gate. There is a small gatehouse. Outside the gatehouse hangs the plaque “Taishidi”, and inside hangs the plaque “Chuanlu”. These two plaques are blue with gold characters, inscribed by Grand Scholar Wang Jie.

Inside the gate, there is a row of five front halls. On the left and right of the ridge of the house are obliquely inserted with “Gangsha Shou”, indicating the high position of the official. The second row is a five-room back hall, which is the place to worship ancestors. Inside the hall, there are portraits and genealogy books of Wang Erlie. Two birthday screens for Wang Erlie’s 70th birthday and his mother’s 90th birthday are collected in the partition wall and regarded as the family heirlooms of the Wang family. Now, these two birthday screens are treasured in Liaoyang Museum.
