The Wangci Mountain House was originally the private villa of Tang Shaoyi. It covers an area of 612 square meters. The front building is a mixed structure of stone walls and concrete, including a gate tower, hall, rooms, workshops and kitchens. The back building is a two-story building with a mixed structure of brick and stone and concrete. On the lintel of the main gate, ‘Wangci Mountain House’ is engraved in relief, which is written by Tang Shaoyi himself. There is an observation platform protruding from the front building, from which one can overlook the cemetery of Tang Shaoyi’s mother, Mrs. Liang Tai. This expresses Tang Shaoyi’s affection for building this building to commemorate his mother. Therefore, this building is also called ‘Mother-Watching Tower’. In 1986, the Wangci Mountain House was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhuhai City. In November 2008, together with Tang Shaoyi’s former residence and Gongleyuan, it was announced as the fifth batch of cultural relic protection units in Guangdong Province. Currently, there is an exhibition on Tang Shaoyi’s life here. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 08:30 to 17:00; Closed all day on Monday all year round.
