Wanghai Tower is located on Yan Dun Mountain, Dongtou Island, with an elevation of 227 meters. It has a clear structure of three floors with an implied five-story design, making it a tall building along the southeast coast. The tower features observation corridors on the third and fifth levels, offering panoramic views of the sea and sky, as well as a complete view of the Dongtou Islands. Originally constructed in 434 AD, Wanghai Tower has a history of over 1500 years.
It includes the main tower of Wanghai Tower, a statue of Yan Yanzhi, a poetry stele corridor, Tong Hui Pavilion, Hong Cheng Pavilion, Xin Shang Pavilion, and the White Horse Ancient Road, among other scenic spots. The main tower, from the first to the fifth floor, is themed as follows: sails and anchors, farming and fishing, Min and Ou customs, intangible cultural heritage, and the observation corridor. Inside the main tower, there is a marine folk culture exhibition hall, displaying the local fishing village charm of Dongtou with advanced optoelectronic display methods. The main tower: Wanghai Tower’s main building is a Qing-style architecture, facing north to south, covering an area of 700 square meters. It has an outer observation corridor on the third and fifth floors, and four small pavilions are built on the top of the tower, forming a pattern like stars surrounding the moon, which is quite spectacular when viewed from a distance. Hong Cheng Pavilion: Located on the east side of the Wanghai Tower’s main building, it is hexagonal with a double-layer structure, six corners with double eaves, symbolizing ‘everything goes well’. The second floor of the pavilion hangs the ‘Fu Xiang Bell’, which is used for blessing the islanders and tourists. ‘Hong Cheng’ originally means the clarity and depth of water, and here it is used to describe the clear and resonant bell sound in the pavilion. White Horse Ancient Road: The ancient road connects Xiaopu Village and Wanghai Tower, and is part of the Wanghai Tower Forest Greenway. It consists of Qingfeng Garden, Tuolou Corridor, Hanxiu Platform, and wooden plank road, with a total length of 1300 meters. Along the road, there are dense shades; at the high and low places of the corridor and platform, the islands and reefs come into view, making it a good place for mountain climbing, fitness, and sightseeing.
