On the east side of the top of Langyatai, there is an ancient pavilion building. The pavilion plaque is inscribed with ‘Wangyue Tower’. In the pavilion stands a bronze statue of King Goujian of Yue. This is the image of King Goujian of Yue forged in red copper. The current Wangyue Tower was rebuilt in 1993 on the original site of Wangyue Tower. Wangyue Tower is surrounded by the sea on three sides and looks like it is about to fly. Climbing the tower to watch the sunrise over the sea, observing the wind and clouds in the sky, enjoying the morning glow and evening afterglow, and watching the ships sailing and seagulls flying and the tides rising and falling under Langyatai. Although all these are constantly changing, the figure of King Goujian of Yue still stands in the pavilion and gazes at the South China Sea. His emotion of sending his longing to his homeland still strikes people’s hearts. Tourists here can truly experience the combination of scenery and emotion. Thus, they can more deeply understand the power of King Goujian of Yue’s homesickness that transcends time and space from ancient times to the present.
