Located 19 kilometers northwest of Songyang County, near the Lion’s Mouth Village in Chishou Township, beside Longli Highway, the scenic area is commonly known as Wan Cui Mountain and Cui Hua Mountain. It is said that Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty and Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty once visited here. Tang Xianzu wrote a poem: ‘Coming and going before the mountain, the morning and evening glow, golden light pieces of stone lotus flowers, now the Wansui Mountain faces north, not like the southern tour looking at Cuihua.’ The mountain is full of grotesque rocks, steep cliffs, lush forests, and enchanting scenery. In the past, there were ten scenic spots in the mountain including ‘Shilian Screen, Feifo Cave, Shizhang Peak, Xiangshi Corridor, Luoxia Pavilion, Wusong Ridge, Release Fish Pond, Shuangyu Beach, Diyu Rock, and Dexin Pavilion’. Except for the long-abandoned ancient buildings, the other landscapes still retain their charm. The main peak resembles a reclining lion roaring, and the opening inside can accommodate hundreds of people, commonly known as ‘Lion’s Mouth’, from which the nearby villages got their names. During the Guangxu period, villagers built huts here to avoid chaos, and it was also called Xiao Taoyuan, which means ‘avoiding the chaos of Qin’. Now, there are still peculiar cliff dusk landscapes inside the mountain. The scenic area is open all year round, accessible 24/7.
