According to the Song dynasty’s ‘Baoqing Changguo Zhi’, Wanshou Zen Temple was originally established in the first year of the Jianlong era of the Song dynasty, initially named Yongfu Academy. In the first year of the Zhiping era, it was granted the title ‘Wanshou’. In the mountains surrounding the temple, there grows a plant called Qiusun, with green leaves and purple stems, known as Wanshou Fragrance, also referred to as Wanshou Qiusun (Qiusun is another name for autumn orchid), hence the temple’s name ‘Wanshou’. During the Kangxi period, the temple suffered a fire and was later reconstructed. Wanshou Zen Temple is nestled among mountains, with beautiful scenery, and currently houses structures such as the Mahavira Hall, Jade Buddha Hall, Three Saints Hall, Ksitigarbha Hall, eastern and western wings, and a refectory.
