Xian Yu (Kiki) is a singer-songwriter from Beijing. She is also a lyricist, composer, and creator of illustration and video works. The beginning of her music journey and the starting point for being well-known to the public is being the lead singer of the golden-song group Milk Coffee. She has been praised as the “ceiling of the healing genre” and “the voice that accompanied childhood and youth”. However, she didn’t stop there. Xian Yu has been constantly exploring, building her own independent music world with her whimsical ideas and love.
In 2023 and 2024, with the EP “Together with Cats”, Kiki held dozens of tours in many cities across the country, bringing joy and impressive wonderful moments to tens of thousands of audience friends who came to the scene. She harvested a lot of memories. The most common comments were: “Happy and touched”, “Want to see it again”, “Very dedicated”.
During the days of the temporary farewell of the tour, Xian Yu didn’t stop. She collected inspiration, devoted herself to creation, broke through herself to try new music styles, and polished the visual effects. In 2025, she returned with the brand-new and sincere full-creation album “Dream Diary”, just to continue “creating dreams”.
Taking charge of all the lyrics and melodies and acting as the producer, the album “Dream Diary” is an important one in Xian Yu’s music journey. She jokingly calls it the real “first-year” work as a solo artist.
The vital and中二 girl who came from the millennium, the girl who sang songs like “Burn, Little Universe!”, “Happy Star Cat”, “Growing Older, Growing Lonelier”, and “Hello, Tomorrow”, has experienced growth. After going through ups and downs, she still retains the innocent spirit of a teenager. She still believes in love and dreams. Just like Kiki, the little witch who rides a broom and moves forward bravely in “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, she sings for beauty and to bring happiness to the world.
In this full-length record, Xian Yu sincerely and unreservedly shows us her inner world: sunshine, rainbows, blue skies, and grasslands. Her meticulous observation of life, kind care and understanding for every person she meets, recording every slightly shining moment of inspiration, and adding the magic of “dedication”, she presents ten songs of different colors.
Music can have diverse interpretations of the world. Xian Yu chooses to express it in a relaxed and humorous way. “We who live in the city have already endured too much pressure. I don’t want to depict those heavy parts anymore. I want to be a happy person and a person who can bring happiness to others.”
So this album and this tour revolve around this theme. Just like Xian Yu’s MBTI: ENFP, the happy puppy, they use wild imagination to convey happy healing power and bring a bright color to the world.
