Near Ni Weng Cave, there stands a beautifully carved multi-eaved octagonal pavilion adorned with fish decorations known as the Wen Yu Pavilion. This pavilion is constructed on a giant rock that resembles a lotus petal and is surrounded by water on all four sides. Legend has it that there was a lake on Dinghu Peak, filled with large lotuses. When the Yellow Emperor ascended to heaven riding a dragon, he stepped on a lotus and ascended into the sky.
A divine wind then blew, carrying away one petal that fell to Jinhua County and transformed into Jinhua Mountain, while another petal fell beside the Haoxi River, becoming the petal-shaped rock known as ‘Qinglian Stone’. Later, during the Ming Dynasty, a man named Lai Xian came here, inquired with a fisherman, and found his master, the imperial censor Fan Xian Ke. In commemoration of the story of ‘finding the master by asking a fisherman’, the Wen Yu Pavilion was built. It is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00.Wen Yu Pavilion
