Wenjin Street is located on the west side of Beihai Park and is adjacent to Fuyou Street. It is famous because there is the long-established Beijing Library on this street. And the reason why it is named ‘Wenjin’ is directly related to this library. The Beijing Library is a relatively large library with a large number of books in China. Its predecessor was the Capital Library in the late Qing Dynasty. The Capital Library once received the collection of the Ming Dynasty’s royal library, ‘Wenyuange’, five hundred years ago. A few rare books can be traced back to the collection of the ‘Jixi Palace’ in the Southern Song Dynasty in the 13th century.
