Wentai Pagoda is a well-preserved Ming Dynasty stone tower, which served as a navigational marker in ancient times. It is named after Kuixing, the star of literature, and local literati would offer remote sacrifices to Kuixing from this tower to ensure good fortune in their writing. Chen Hui, a Ming Dynasty military officer, once inscribed the words ‘Lake and Sea Clear and Peaceful’ and ‘Wentai Pagoda’ on the tower, making it a popular place for villagers to climb and visit.
The plan of Wentai Pagoda is hexagonal, and it is solid inside, divided into five levels above the base. Each level is constructed from granite slabs laid in an alternating pattern. The levels are separated by protruding stone slabs that function as eaves. The entire pagoda tapers inward from bottom to top, gradually narrowing as it rises.
