Wenxing Bridge is one of the well-preserved covered bridges in Taishun, with a favorable environment. It is located in Kengbian Village, Xiaocun Town, spanning over the Yuxi River. The bridge is a beam wood arch covered bridge, with a total length of 46.2 meters, a width of 5 meters, a clear span of 29.6 meters, and is 11.5 meters above the water surface. The bridge was originally constructed in the seventh year of the Qing Xianfeng era (1857) and was renovated in 1930. The structure of Wenxing Bridge is quite peculiar; its asymmetrical design makes it stand out among the many covered bridges in Taishun. In 1988, it was listed as a third batch of cultural relics protection units in Taishun County.
Related Legends: It is said that when the bridge was built, the master craftsman was from Jinhua, and he brought a local young man as his apprentice. Fearing that the end he was responsible for might not be sturdy enough, the apprentice added several baskets of iron nails, causing the bridge to tilt towards the side with fewer nails. Another legend tells that two masters were invited to build the bridge from both banks simultaneously. They had differing opinions on the bridge construction plan and would not yield to each other. When they reached the middle, they discovered that the heights on both sides were different. By then, it was too late to dismantle and rebuild, so they had to join the bridge with a tilt. Opening Hours: Open all year round, 24 hours a day. Must-see Tips: In September 2016, Wenxing Bridge was destroyed by a flood, and the reconstruction time is to be determined.Wenxing Bridge
