The exterior wall of the Folk Museum is adorned with the museum’s name inscribed by the renowned folklorist Mr. Wu Bing’an, along with murals depicting the historical and cultural characteristics of Wenzhou. The museum’s collection primarily consists of modern and contemporary folk artifacts from the local people, traditional production tools, folk art pieces, and related images and materials. Some exhibits date back to the Tang Dynasty and represent the historical folk culture of Wenzhou.
The Wenzhou Folk Museum is one of the earlier and larger folk museums established in Chinese universities, enjoying a good reputation in the domestic folklore community and a high level of recognition in the Wenzhou area.
