The ancient Wong Tai Sin Temple is located in Jinjiaoyi Ridge, Qi Shi Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, next to the Dongjiang River in the northwest. It was originally established in the 12th year of the Tongzhi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1873), and was initially named Huang Xianweng Temple. It underwent renovations in 1984 and 1997, and was expanded into Wong Tai Sin Park in 2005. The park covers an area of 130,000 square meters, known for its peculiar rocks, lush forests, cool breezes, and serene landscapes.
During the period from the 15th to the 25th day of the seventh lunar month, known as the ‘Wong Tai Sin’s birthday’, believers and worshippers gather for a traditional folk cultural festival. The ancient Wong Tai Sin Temple is a two-entrance ancient building, standing on the steep bank of the river where Huang Runfu jumped into the river, with an extraordinary momentum.

Leaving the ancient Wong Tai Sin Temple, one can climb Jinjiaoyi Mountain from the macadam path next to the stone archway. Although it is just a small hill, ‘the mountain is not high, but it is famous because of the immortal’. It is precisely because of the widespread fame of Wong Tai Sin that the small Jinjiaoyi Mountain has gained a bit of spiritual aura. Going up from the macadam path, one can first reach the rest pavilion.

From the rest pavilion, climbing to the top of the mountain, one can see a ‘Wen Chang Pavilion’ standing majestically on the top of the mountain. Climbing up to the Wen Chang Pavilion, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Qi Shi. People add ambition because of the beautiful landscape, and the landscape gains more spiritual charm because of the traces of immortals and gods. Mountains, water, people, and gods perfectly combine in this corner, forming a magical place that is unforgettable.

The temple is open all year round from 07:00 to 17:30, and the specific opening hours are subject to the actual situation of the scenic spot on the day.
