The World Famous Pomelo Garden was originally the Wendan pomelo base in Taishan Pond, Qinggang Town, Yuhuan County, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the north of Yuhuan County, close to Yueqing Bay. It was reclaimed in 1980, covering an area of 4.5 square kilometers. It produces more than 5,000 tons of Yuhuan pomelo (Chumen Wendan) annually. It is a large base for planting Yuhuan pomelo in Yuhuan County.
The selected Yuhuan pomelo has won eight consecutive championships in the national pomelo evaluation. The garden has opened up pomelo areas from all over the world and planted 24 famous pomelo varieties at home and abroad, such as Shatian pomelo, Jinlan pomelo, Pengxi pomelo, grapefruit, and green pomelo for tourists to taste. Professor Tan Jiazhen, a famous biologist, gave a high evaluation after inspecting the base and personally inscribed ‘World Famous Pomelo Garden’. The World Famous Pomelo Garden is thus named.
