The Medicine King Temple in Wu Mountain, located in the Shangcheng District of Hangzhou, was originally named Huiying Temple and commonly referred to as the ‘Leather Market Temple’. It was first established during the Song Dynasty in honor of Zhang Sen, a guardian of the leather market in Tangyin, Xiangzhou during the Han Dynasty. It is said that Zhang Sen timely eliminated a large number of venomous scorpions in the leather market, thereby saving the local people from a disaster. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Huiying Temple gradually evolved into the Medicine King Temple, where Shennong (commonly known as the Medicine King Bodhisattva), Bian Que, and Sun Simiao are worshipped. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
