According to historical records, from 1938 to 1945, Japanese aircraft invaded the airspace over Linhai 252 times and dropped 1288 bombs, killing 182 people and injuring 203 people. 1761 buildings such as civilian houses were destroyed. The situation of Wufengfang being burned down: The first time the Japanese invaders violated Linhai city was on April 21, 1941. On the 19th, the Japanese invaders landed at Haimen and first occupied Qiansuo in Haimen and burned down more than 1000 houses in Haimen. On the 20th, the Japanese invaders went up the river and fired machine guns and rifle grenades at the area along Jiangxia Street. The Lanxiu Tower at the south end of Ziyang Street and Tianning Temple were attacked. After the Japanese invaders invaded Linhai City, Wufengfang was burned first and then bombed. During this invasion of Linhai City, the Japanese invaders occupied the city for 5 days and withdrew on the afternoon of April 24. In 5 days, 545 civilian houses and the county government buildings were burned down. Five people were shot to death and one person was burned to death. Wufengfang was burned and destroyed.
