The Wu Gorge Goddess Scenic Area’s southern loop is composed of the Goddess Peak, Goddess Stream, and the Goddess Sky Road. Located in the heart of the famous Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, Wu Gorge, it is situated to the east of the county town, covering a total area of 132 square kilometers, with a core scenic area of 28 square kilometers. It is a significant project for Wushan County in creating a national all-for-one tourism demonstration zone, playing a crucial role in promoting the transformation and upgrading of Wushan tourism and achieving leapfrog development.
The Wu Gorge Goddess Scenic Area is a destination within the Three Gorges scenic area for hiking, boating, sightseeing, leisure, vacationing, self-cultivation, and nurturing one’s nature. It is also a place to fully appreciate the Wu Gorge, enjoy the red leaves, get close to the Goddess, and experience the clouds and rain of Wushan. Visitors can experience the 222-meter hanging ladder and the Huangyan and Jiulong cableways. In 2014, the Wu Gorge Goddess Scenic Area was officially rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction and is currently applying to become a 5A-level tourist attraction.

The Goddess Sky Road spans 12 kilometers with an average altitude of over 1200 meters. The road winds between cliffs, with vehicles often traveling through the mist, as if walking in the sky, hence the name Goddess Sky Road. It was officially opened to the public during the Red Leaf Festival in 2016. Tourists can take sightseeing buses that wind through steep slopes and shuttle through the clouds, as if on a celestial road.

Along the way, there are five viewing platforms (namely: Tianzhan Lamp, Xianlv Terrace, Yaotai, Mountain God Temple, and Feiyun Terrace). The scenery along the route is picturesque, with clear mountains and waters. Here, one can overlook the Yangtze River, face the Goddess Peak and Goddess Temple across the river, appreciate the misty clouds of the gorge, search for the Wushan turtle, be amazed by the Yangtze River’s reverse flow, and participate in folk performances and interactive experiences.

Additionally, one can enjoy the red leaves of the mountains and the clouds and rain of Wushan, making it a popular choice for photography enthusiasts. The entire area is open year-round from 08:30 to 17:00.
